Putting Greens across Charnwood.

A garden putting green is a different discipline from a lawn: a short, dense putting pile over a base shaped and compacted until the roll is true, with breaks built in on purpose rather than by accident. We build greens from a simple two-cup practice patch to shaped multi-break greens with fringe surrounds — and yes, they get used every day in a way gym equipment never does.

Straight answers

Things people ask about putting greens.

Does a garden putting green roll like a real green?
A proper putting pile on a shaped, compacted base rolls true and quick — speed is tuned with sand dressing. What it will not do is repair pitch marks, because there are none: it is the same surface every single day.
How big does a putting green need to be?
Useful practice starts around three metres by two — enough for one cup and honest six-footers. Bigger buys you breaks, multiple cups and chipping room; we shape to the space you have.
Can I chip onto it?
Yes — the surface takes lofted chips happily, and a fringe collar gives you the up-and-down game too. Full wedge shots from distance are asking a lot of any synthetic green; short game is its sweet spot.
How much maintenance does it need?
A brush to keep the pile standing, leaves off it, and an occasional top-up of the sand dressing to hold your preferred speed. Minutes a month, not greenkeeping.
Can it double as a play lawn?
The putting surface is a specialist short pile — fine to walk and play on, but if the garden needs a family lawn too, the usual answer is a green plus lawn combination, which we design as one job.
