How long does artificial grass last?

A quality pile on a proper base keeps its looks for well over a decade of normal family use — the cheap stuff flattening after two summers is a product and base problem, not a category problem. We only fit grass we are happy to stand behind.

Does artificial grass drain like real grass?

Faster, usually — the backing is punched with drainage holes and the sub-base underneath is built to soak water away, so puddles and winter mud disappear. Heavy clay gardens need that base done properly, which is exactly what the dig-out is for.

Will it look fake?

Modern grasses mix pile heights and colour tones — including brown root threads — and the good ones read as a well-kept lawn from a metre away. Pick from samples in your own garden light, not from a website photo.

How is it installed?

Old lawn out, sub-base in and compacted, laying course screeded smooth, membrane down, grass cut in with hidden joins and fixed edges, then sand-dressed and brushed. Most gardens take one to two days.

Is there any maintenance at all?

A little: a brush-up now and then to keep the pile standing, leaves off it in autumn, and a rinse where pets use it. What disappears is mowing, watering, feeding, moss and mud.
